I am a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I received my doctorate in French with a minor in German. Since graduation, I have taught foreign languages and culture at the university level. However, I have also worked with learners of all ages, from 3rd grade to senior citizen, in both school and tutoring settings. I tutor a wide range of subjects (English, French, German, Spanish), but what links them all is language as a tool for connection and personal growth. Learning someone else's language shows that you respect their culture and want to understand it. At the same time, learning a new language can lead to insights about your own language and culture.
When tutoring, I strive to help students meet their immediate (practical) goals while encouraging them to discover more about learning styles and strategies so they can succeed in all areas of study. In my free time, I enjoy arts and crafts of all kinds, gardening, cooking, and board games. I also like spoiling my guinea pigs with treats.
