About Me

Karinellie is the Staff and Family Mental Health and Wellness Specialist at Shine Early Learning, with more than six years of experience serving vulnerable families and children from multicultural backgrounds. Karinellie holds a solid academic background in social work and family services. As a mental health therapist, Karinellie served children, families, and adults suffering from depression, anxiety, complex trauma, and suicidal ideation. During that time, she utilized a strength-based approach and a variety of modalities to meet the needs and interests of her clients by incorporating multiple coping and self-regulation techniques. In her commitment to supporting her clients, Davila was trained in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to reduce emotional distress from a trauma-informed approach and continue supporting their clients and their journey. Before her as a counselor, Davila worked as a community outreach and case manager in a shelter for human trafficking survivors. In that role, she created partnerships with other community-based agencies in northern California to strengthen the organization's efforts and provide one-on-one assistance to survivors to navigate multiple systems such as immigration, housing, social welfare, and others. As a previous family advocate in Head Start, case manager, and home visitor, Davila understands the importance of creating self-regulation techniques for our emotional well-being to continue in this field and preserve ourselves as professionals. Davila holds a Master's degree in Socio-Educational Family Therapy from the University of Barcelona and a second Master's in Social Work from the University of Southern California.
