About Me

Hi! I am a medical student at the University of Virginia School of Medicine. I grew up in Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pittsburgh for undergraduate studies, where I majored in Biochemistry and Bioengineering. I have always taken a keen interest in tutoring and mentoring students, and have been involved with multiple organizations teaching middle-school aged students to adult learners. Outside of these formal teaching opportunities, I am a proponent of collaborative learning in all settings (sports, medicine, arts) and have always emphasized teaching and learning by analogy to simplify complex topics. In medical school, I have served as a Teaching Assistant for first-year medical students learning musculoskeletal anatomy and physiology. I have also served as a one-on-one mentor to assist students who are struggling with the academic pace and rigor of the medical school curriculum. During my undergraduate years, I worked with multiple professors as a TA in upper-level science courses covering biochemistry and molecular biology where I taught recitation and review sessions. During that time, I also served as a tutor in STEM-topics through a pipeline program working with students of underserved populations in Pittsburgh. I believe that learning is a lifelong endeavor, and that a conversational approach to teaching benefits both the student and teacher. I am always looking for ways to connect with other people, to find a commonality that we can use to explore new or confusing topics in an analogous manner. I always seek to build on my experiences in working with different types of learners to find the best way to engage with my students and foster their sense of curiosity and confidence.
