About Me

Hi, my name is Kelsey Ann Kerr. I have a B.A. in English - creative writing and studio art from Denison University, and an M.F.A. in poetry from the University of Maryland. I first started teaching in South Korea in 2012, where I taught students ages 4-14 English, as well as art, math, and science, among other topics. Since 2016, I have been a full time adjunct professor in writing composition, teaching at the University of Maryland and American University. I try to make content engaging and approachable, and show how challenges can be fulfilling; my favorite part of teaching is to watch students grow and enjoy the process. Poetry is my favorite thing to teach; I've been writing poems since I was a teenager, and now have works published in literary journals like "The Sewanee Review," "Stirring" and "New Delta Review." Currently, I am in the process of finishing up a couple of collections of poetry, while I prepare to attend law school in the fall of 2021.
