About Me

I have a BS in Biochemistry from Cornell University (with honors and distinction) and a PhD in Biochemistry from The Rockefeller University, although my training also encompasses neuroscience, genetics, and molecular biology. I'm enthusiastic about science, but more importantly, I approach my tutoring sessions with a sense of humor, and I have a creative style to help students better understand otherwise difficult concepts. I have considerable expertise in the biological sciences, including general biology, genetics, cell biology, developmental biology and molecular biology. I have an extensive and highly successful record of mentoring elementary, middle school, high school, undergraduate and graduate level students (from a career spanning over 25 years). I have taught high school students, undergraduates and graduate courses, as well as medical school coursework. I am also able to help with writing and proofreading applications, reports and essays in all fields (e.g., history, English) in addition to the biological sciences. In addition, I can help you become a better test taker. We can meet at a local library or elsewhere, and on-line tutoring is also a possibility.
