About Me

After spending three years working in the world of finance - two years of investment banking in New York and a year of private equity in Boston - I have made the transition to education. With a Bachelors degree in Accounting & Business from Washington and Lee University, my subject areas of interest are as follows: Accounting, Business, Finance, Economics, Statistics, and the following levels of Math - Middle School, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, College Algebra and Calculus. In addition to these subject areas, I am also qualified to tutor SAT Prep and am excited to help students conquer this standardized test while setting themselves up for a successful college education. Continuing with my personal education, I am currently a graduate student at the Johns Hopkins School of Education where I am working towards a Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Independent Schools - a highly successful program in the world of education, which prepares teacher candidates with instructional and classroom / behavior management skills necessary to teach successfully at all levels independent schools. As a tutor, I have the ability to adapt to each individual student and work with a range of learning styles in order to ultimately achieve subject mastery. With a focus in math and finance, I am a believer in the real world application of subject content and strive to include real-world examples so that my students understand the bigger picture of what we are studying. Beyond my interests in education, I am an avid sports fan with my favorite sports being football, basketball, lacrosse and golf. After playing lacrosse at Washington and Lee, I continue to play in competitive leagues for lacrosse and a number of other sports (e.g., flag football, hockey, kickball, squash) - essentially trying to stay as active as possible. With my practical experience in finance, I feel that I bring a unique and effective approach to education, and I look forward to working with my students to achieve subject mastery while laying the foundation for educational success.
