About Me

I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin. I received my Bachelor of Science inHuman Biology with a focus on social aspects of health and disease. Since graduation, I have taught high school under Teach For America. I taught high school biology, Honors biology, chemistry, and Honors chemistry. I regularly helped my students outside of class in these subjects, in addition to math, reading, writing, and SAT Prep. I have a passion for math and science because of the problem skills developed through their study, but I also have a joy for reading and writing and the way language can powerfully capture ideas and meaning. I firmly believe in establishing strong, individual working relationships with students: each student is different and each deserves a unique, specialized approach to meet his/her needs. This was very successful in my work as a high school teacher in a very low-performing school, in which I helped raise standardized test scores 20% in my first year. In my spare time, I often read and write, but also enjoy running and playing basketball to get some good exercise.
