"Education Is Not the Filling of a Pail, But the Lighting of a Fire" - W.B. YeatsThis philosophy has always guided my approach to teaching. I believe that getting a student from A to B is certainly critical, but what is even more essential is the 'aha' moment when a difficult problem clicks, a love for writing comes about, a passion is ignited, and/or inspiration is born. This is what makes a student a lifelong learner who doesn't shy away from a challenge or the unknown. I like to inject fun and humor into learning and am the product of some really excellent educators who I like to think inform my teaching style. My tutoring experience began nearly four years ago when I began working with an organization that helps prepare under-served students for the SAT and the college admissions process. I enjoyed breaking students' preconceived notions about what they could and could not do, and I value the interpersonal relationships with my students that I was able to create and maintain to this day. I graduated with my undergrad in 2012 with degrees in International Relations and Spanish, and I was awarded Distinguished Honors in International Relations. I also minored in Latin American Studies and studied abroad for a semester in Madrid.
