Educational consultants at Varsity Tutors can assist high school juniors and seniors with preparing for the ACT by connecting them with Seattle ACT preparation options. There are many upperclassmen who can't wait to apply for college, but you probably have to take the ACT if you want to boost your chances of entrance in a dream university. Many students who go to schools like Seattle Preparatory School and Garfield High School will take this exam. It's essential for you to do your best since your chance of admission may be based in part on your overall score.
The ACT, or the American College Test, is a five-section standardized exam. If you're finishing up your high school years, you're probably unsure where to begin in test preparation. Don't worry! We at Varsity Tutors can link you with private instruction or a prep class. We can locate a professional Seattle ACT tutor for you if you enjoy one-on-one attention with an educator. We can also match you with a Seattle ACT prep course if you like engaging in group work with your peers. Whatever option you go with, we'll find you the support you need.
What can Seattle ACT prep go over?
The ACT is comprised of five sections including Reading, Mathematics, Science, English, and Writing. The Writing portion is optional, and if you choose to do it, you have three hours and 35 minutes to complete the whole exam. If you don't want to do the Writing portion, your time limit is two hours and 55 minutes. In addition, you will have to bring the following items on test day: a photo ID, a test ticket, a couple of No. 2 pencils, a watch, something to eat during breaks, and a calculator for the Mathematics section. Even though you may already know a little about the ACT, let's go over each section in depth.
The Reading section covers English reading concepts like word/phrase meanings and themes. Each of its 40 multiple-choice questions contains passages that test you on reading comprehension skills that will come in handy for freshman college courses. You'll earn 1 to 36 points, and you have 35 minutes to answer the questions.
The Mathematics section involves subjects like algebra, geometry, and trigonometry. Its 60 multiple-choice questions assess your skills in interpreting equations, using numerical reasoning, and other math concepts. You'll earn 1 to 36 points, and you have an hour to solve the problems.
The Science section deals with chemistry, Earth/space sciences, physics, and biology. Each of its 40 multiple-choice questions measures your ability to analyze data and to apply the scientific method. You'll earn 1 to 36 points, and you have a time limit of 35 minutes.
The English section involves English writing concepts related to grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, etc. Its 75 multiple-choice questions require you to utilize your language and writing skills. You'll earn 1 to 36 points, and you have 45 minutes to answer the questions.
The Writing section measures your drafting, organization, comparison, and analysis skills. Its essay question has one prompt about a topic and three perspectives surrounding that topic. You need to present your own view and make connections between your view and at least one of the provide perspectives. You'll earn 2 to 12 points on this voluntary portion, and you have 40 minutes to complete it.
There could be an experimental portion after the Science section. This will be marked for you, and it won't receive a score. Don't leave any questions unanswered, since there's no penalty for guessing.
What benefits does Seattle ACT prep bring me?
Varsity Tutors can connect you with tutoring or a prep class to assist you with studying for the ACT exam. Each option possesses its own special qualities, and you're more than welcome to sign up for both of them if you choose. Read more about each program.
One-on-one instruction is an excellent way for you to better concentrate on your studies since each session only involves you and the tutor. It's possible for a schoolteacher to set aside time to help you, but it's more difficult for them to personally assist you due to limited time and other responsibilities they have. A private instructor can give you all the time you need since they can work on a flexible schedule. They can conduct lessons at a fast or slow pace and even appeal to your individual learning style. An educator can also offer a listening ear to your concerns. Perhaps, you're undecided about your major or career path. They can provide some guidance to assist you with choosing a vocational path that aligns with your interests. An academic mentor wants you to do well and is willing to help you every step of the way.
If you enjoy working on class projects in school, then you may like partaking in a Seattle ACT prep class. Unlike a school classroom, this one takes place online, enabling you to associate with a teacher and other students through your computer. There are new sessions each week, and you can sign up for a two-week class or a four-week class. You and your peers collaborate to review parts of the ACT test. You all can work on sample math problems to prepare for the Mathematics section or strengthen your grammar skills for the English section. You can also share relaxation tips to try to ease test jitters. You can even seek private help from the teacher if you want direct assistance with certain sections.
This all sounds wonderful. How do I get started with Seattle ACT prep?
Signing up for one or both prep options is really easy. Just dial our number or send a message through our contact form, and an educational consultant will get back to you. We can connect you with private tutors and ACT prep courses quickly and easily. Contact Varsity Tutors today for more information about how a Seattle ACT prep program can help you pursue your collegiate goals.

...infer tone and meaning using limited information. These skills are valuable and likely what you will retain throughout your life. This is why I care about helping people think about problems not just solve them. I care about showing them the paths to solving problems or writing essays so that they can walk them themselves rather than rummaging around in their memories for disconnected facts and formulas. I do not just want to give you...

Much of the aforementioned experience pertains to one-on-one or small-group tutoring. In addition to enjoying tutoring, I also enjoy seeing my students succeed. One of my most enjoyable moments in undergrad was working as a Research Assistant at Semyung University in optimizing the instruction of curricula for incoming college freshmen. I am passionate about tutoring and about making students love learning. I can help with test prep, study skills, organizational skills, or a variety of subjects including up to college level physics, chemistry, and biology. I am currently finishing my Master of Athletic Training, and am extremely knowledgeable in the fields of Exercise Science, Anatomy, and Healthcare. In my free time, I love to hike and bike as well as attend sporting events.... When students are struggling with reading comprehension, I will ask them to underline, highlight, and identify any vocabulary words they do not understand. Then, we will begin to puzzle out the meaning of the word using contextual clues. Additionally, I find that preparing adequately for readings by reading subject headings first can allow students to prepare their mind for the task at hand.
