Hello everyone! I am an (almost) graduate of SUNY Geneseo in upstate NY. I majored in childhood and special education with a concentration in environmental studies. I am awaiting to complete student teaching and the edTPA this upcoming fall and finally receive my diploma in December 2020. Due to the pandemic, many of my plans fell through this summer but a friend suggested I continue in the field of education through Varsity Tutors! I want to use this platform to put into practice everything that I learned during my undergrad experience. This includes ELA 1-6th grade, particularly phonics and reading comprehension, elementary math and science, as well as offer my knowledge of Spanish, as fluent native speaker. I believe that education is first and foremost about establishing relationships. I genuinely and deeply care about the students with whom I work, which creates a reciprocal relationship that I think is the foundation for establishing an education for students. The students I work with know I want the best for them, that everything I do for them is a gift for them because I care about them and want them to succeed.I got my education at the University of California, San Diego, where I majored in history and psychology. I stayed at UCSD for graduate school to earn a multiple subject teaching credential and a Master in Education. I have a supplementary authorization to teach social studies in all grades.My favorite subject is history because I find the truth to be so much more fascinating than fiction. But, I tutor in all subjects in elementary and middle school. I tutor in history and writing in high school.In my free time, I enjoy playing golf, ultimate frisbee, and racquetball. I especially enjoy traveling and have been to sixty countries.

Since graduating from the university, I have taught extensively for 20+ years in Elementary, Middle and High Schools. I have tutored children through the belief with high expectations that "Every Student Succeeds Act."I have worked with private clients from all states. I am most passionate about Mathematics, Writing, and History. In my educational experience, helping struggling students prepare for Standardized Tests and advanced academically. I am a recent graduate of Northern Arizona University with my Bachelor of Science in Special and Elementary Education. I am also certified by the state of Arizona to teach elementary grades kindergarten through eighth, special education kindergarten through twelfth, and multicultural education. Currently I am teaching third grade at a public elementary school in Phoenix. During my undergraduate degree work I was fortunate enough to be able to work with third, fourth, sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. I take my amazing 12 year old son and we travel to Central America to help build homes during the morning hours and I then spend the afternoons alternating between a middle school and a high school teaching ESL. I consider myself blessed to say that I have a career doing something I absolutely love and enjoy!I was raised in New York and received a B.A. in Hispanic Languages and Literature from SUNY Stony Brook. While doing my undergraduate study, I concentrated my studies in the Central and South American regions. My Master's degree is in Romance Languages (Italian/Spanish), also from SUNY Stony Brook.When I am not teaching or studying, I enjoy reading, going to the movies, boxing, and traveling! But that is, my main objective is to help those who struggle in a specific area, such as Math or ESL, Geometry, or Spanish, be successful.I obtained my MBA from Grand Canyon University in 2021, have a post-graduate certification in Industrial and Organizational Psychology, a Bachelor's in Applied Business Analytics, and am currently pursuing a Doctoral program in Healthcare Administration and Leadership.Although this is my first-time teaching, I am very passionate about impacting others' lives and helping my students reach their goals. I have trained others in the past in different work positions. I am incredibly patient, understanding, and compassionate.
