I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from MIT with a Concentration in Philosophy at Harvard University. I also possess a decade of experience as a teacher of High School Mathematics at international schools in North America, Europe and Asia. I am fully bilingual in English and Spanish. Furthermore, I have reached an intermediate proficiency level of French, Italian and German. Regarding my tutoring, I feel comfortable teaching Mathematics in both English and Spanish. I enjoy one-on-one tutoring because it gives me the chance to taylor my lessons to the specific needs of a student. My preference is to build knowledge from first principles and to encourage reasoning and independent thinking. I consider it is also essential to create lasting study habits, which will serve well beyond a single Mathematics subject. Fundamentally, I like to develop a mentoring relationship with my students. It is extremely rewarding to see the sparkle in a student's eyes when they master a new topic. I also find it uplifting to witness how students gain self-confidence in dealing with mathematical concepts.

Growing up, I was labeled by my family as "the future rich man." By narrowing my focus to myself, I was always able to achieve my goals more efficiently. This worked plenty for me, as I had just been accepted to the best high school in the state and had a high GPA. However, this turned out to be a less-than-stellar strategy when it came to fulfillment. Oftentimes, my obsessive focus on my work led to a social battery only matched by Wednesday Addams and an emptiness that I had struggled with for a long time. While achievements like Honor Roll were nice to have, they never brought any sense of purpose. However, in 11th grade, I got a life-changing opportunity: I would volunteer to help coach and take statistics for the local high school varsity girls' basketball team that my mom was coaching. Upon hearing about this opportunity, I was ecstatic since I could further fill my resume with an activity I had already enjoyed in previous years. My family had always been united by basketball: Whether it was my mom and family watching Lakers games or our traditional Thanksgiving three-on-three games, I had been studying the game for nearly my entire life. However, as time went on, volunteering became more than just an opportunity to engage with basketball. Once she began coaching, I often had the privilege of hearing her rant about the team. She would come home and immediately start pacing around the living room, trying her hardest to strategize while not losing her patience. However, these tangents also came with bits and pieces of their lives, worries, and future aspirations: many of them lived in low-income households, had issues with anxiety, and had dreams to be doctors or entrepreneurs. Every time I heard one of these stories, it not only made me feel a greater connection to them and their goals, but it made me think about what I should do to help them. Around December, I decided to set up some meetings for SAT/PSAT tutoring for the team, which would help both myselfwho needed to take it that yearand the team, who would be introduced to these topics for the first time. Throughout that meeting, the aroma of coffee and cinnamon rolls filled the local Panera, which would sometimes give us free coffee and bread. As we studied, a girl on the teamwho wanted to be an engineerasked for help on a problem with proportional triangles. I noticed the both confused and frustrated look on her faceEnglish was not her first language, so she was trying her hardest to take every word I said and translate it into her own language, while I drew diagrams of triangles on the page. This only made me more determined; I brought in every possible real-world example I had in my mind to help her understand. Finally, with a glow of satisfaction, she understood the problem and completed the next example with ease. However, this not only created a feeling of gratification for her, but also for myself, as this moment brought me fulfillment I had not felt before. Sitting in that Panera explaining Algebra 1 concepts, I realized exactly what I needed to fill the void. When I got home, I couldn't help but have a smile on my face, because I finally knew what I was doing wrong: the obsessive focus on my own achievements was withholding the sense of contentment that comes from helping others. I realized that the unfillable void could only be filled by helping others achieve instead of achieving more for myself. Whether it is tutoring while managing my school work or doing community service before performing for the school's concert band, I knew moving forward my life had to have a balance. Ultimately, being "the future rich man" will mean being truly fulfilled.

SAT Tutor
I'm a tutor with over 7 years of experience helping students gain confidence and improve in math, SAT/test prep, statistics, and computer programming. I've worked with a wide range of learners, from students who need to strengthen fundamentals and overcome test anxiety to high-achieving students pursuing top scores and ambitious academic goals. My teaching style is patient, structured, and highly personalized. I break challenging concepts into simple, manageable steps, adapt each lesson to the student's pace and learning style, and use clear explanations, targeted practice, and real-world examples to make learning more approachable and engaging. I also believe great tutoring is not just about getting the right answer, but about helping students understand why it works, think independently, and build lasting confidence they can carry into future classes and exams.

Outside the classroom, I have tutored many that either needed help in a particular class or wanted a deeper understanding of their science and technology coursework. My passion is to share my love of learning with my students. My goal is to not only teach the material, but also to help the student connect with the material in a meaningful way. In doing so, may the students come to share my love of learning.

My tutoring sessions are interactive, patient, and highly personalized. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all methodeach student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to match their individual pace, goals, and learning style. I focus on helping students truly understand the why behind each concept, not just memorize formulas or shortcuts. Together, we work step-by-step through problems, discussing reasoning, strategy, and underlying principles until everything clicks. My goal is to build lasting confidence and clarity. Whether a student is catching up, aiming to excel, or just trying to feel more comfortable with the material, I create a supportive environment where they can ask questions freely, think critically, and stay engaged. I also believe in strong communicationkeeping parents informed and helping students take ownership of their learning. Above all, I want my students to leave each session feeling capable, confident, and genuinely connected to what they're learning.

I grew up in the Boston area and now live in Citrus County, Florida. I graduated from MIT in chemical engineering and worked for many years as a chemical process engineer, so I have a strong background in math and science, especially chemistry and thermodynamics. I've also been granted six U.S. patents. When the pandemic hit us, I moved to Florida and did part-time work as a chess tutor, then became a substitute teacher in the middle and high schools in our district. I enjoyed working with the students, many of whom had difficulty learning in big classes with many disruptions. I found that I could best help these students by using real-world examples to teach difficult concepts in a new way. Often, then, the student would come away with a new perspective and a much better understanding of the concept. I was happy to be able to help. These days as a VT tutor, I continue to use, whenever possible, real-world examples in my own material in chemistry and thermodynamics.
