What can a Louisville MCAT class help me review?
An MCAT class is designed to help students become more well-rounded as their test date approaches. If you feel more confident in some areas of the MCAT and less confident in other areas, allow an MCAT class to help you increase your confidence in the areas that are causing you difficulty. Your MCAT class covers all four sections of the exam, including the Chemical and Physical Foundation of Biological Systems section, the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section, the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems portion, and the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior portion.
In total, the MCAT is a 6 hour and 15 minute exam. However, test-takers are seated for 7 and a half hours. This exam is standardized, computer-based, and multiple-choice. On the exam, students receive five scores. Each section is scored individually, and then students receive an overall score. Each section is scored on a scale of 118 to 132, with the total overall score ranging from 472 to 528. When going into your exam, you should know that any section may contain experimental questions, which won't count towards your final score.
The Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems section of the MCAT contains 59 questions. Of these 59 questions, there are 10 passage-based sets that contain four to six questions per set. There are also 15 independent questions. This section focuses on the human body's systems, the chemical and physical principles that underlie the mechanisms operating the human body, and the chemical and physical principles of living systems. To brush up on your abilities for this section, consider a Louisville MCAT class to practice general chemistry, organic and inorganic chemistry, introductory physics, introductory biology, and basic biochemistry.
The next portion of the MCAT is the Critical Analysis and Reasoning Skills section. This section asks 53 questions, including nine passage-based sets of questions with five to seven questions per passage. For this portion of the MCAT, you will be tested on your verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, and analytical skills. You can practice these areas in an MCAT class to feel as prepared as possible when taking your test.
Next is the Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems section. Here, students are asked 59 questions, including 10 passage-based sets of questions with four to six questions per set, and 15 independent questions. This section focuses on scientific inquiry and reasoning skills, as well as biological and biochemical foundation concepts and processes that are unique to living organisms.
The final section of the MCAT is the Psychological, Social, and Biological Foundations of Behavior portion. Individuals are asked 59 questions, including 10 passage-based sets of questions with four to six questions per set, and 15 independent questions. This section focuses on skills that you need to know in order to serve an increasingly diverse population. Many medical schools look for a favorable score on this section to make sure a student is prepared.

...me to excel and achieve a class ranking of #3 in medical school. 1. Understanding the actual material that you are studying. If you don't understand what you are studying, it makes studying and memorizing the material astronomically more difficult. 2. ...without a lot of explanation. In most things, I'm not that guy! Like many students, understanding comes with repetition of principles and hard work. I have the perspective of a student trying to understand, not a teacher trying to preach. I love working with people from the ground up; we start at the comfort zone and work our way to improvement. I know I don't know everything, so I'm excited to learn as well!... Start where you are and work up from there. Setting unrealistic expectations from the get-go usually decreases confidence rather than building it.
