Melissa
I am a current college professor teaching a wide variety of courses in health, anatomy and physiology, and exercise science. I have recently gone on to continue my education and just completed my doctoral degree in kinesiology. I teach college students primarily but do have experience teaching middle school age students through an anatomy camp each summer. I also have 3 children in elementary school in which I am probably overly involved in their learning.

I am a freshman at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. My major is Biology with a minor in Spanish and I hope to become a doctor one day. I love all animals, and I enjoy children of all ages. I teach children ages 3-14 how to swim during the summer months, and I really enjoy rowing on the crew team here at Xavier and swimming in my free time. I am super excited to work with students seeking help in school, and can't wait to use my knowledge and capabilities to help them achieve everything they ...

I'm constantly observing how the student's whole body integrates information; these observations inform me, as the tutor, about what is working and what we methods we need to try. For example, if one tool for visual attention to text isn't working, we talk about what's off and try tools until one is just right. I tend to use models of problem solving that involve ongoing updates about what's right, what's off, and what's just right; we can work strategically to maximize outcomes.

I am currently preparing to begin a Master's of Teaching program at VCU this fall and have continued to excel in the math and history courses I need to round out my teaching endorsements. Because my future career path focuses on teaching at the high school level, I have a preference for tutoring math (especially algebra through calculus) and history, along with writing and my current subject of philosophy. Besides my career motivations, I find that I stand out the most as a tutor in these areas ...

I am currently a full time nanny but still open for tutoring opportunities. Working to support passionate young students is something that I truly care about and finding that spark when they understand something is the best feeling in the world. Proficient understanding of reading and writing improves education, but it should also boost confidence in students and their learning abilities. I love teaching students how to form creative ideas and write about them because writing about what you know...
