There are few things as rewarding as learning; helping students feel the same way is one of my main focuses. As a teacher, it is my responsibility to know who my learners are, what kinds of knowledge and experience they bring to the table, and what they want to achieve so that I can tailor a curriculum that fits their needs and yet leaves enough room to accommodate topics that emerge.I especially love teaching when the learning in my classroom/with a student is palpable. I believe that teachers who demonstrate curiosity and passion about a subject area motivate students. My philosophy of teaching is informed by the material I teach, relevant scholarship, and the lessons I have learned from personal teaching successes and failures.I have many years experience tutoring for SAT and ACT, as well as all high school level math and English.

Exhausted, my legs swollen, sweating during my training as a doctor. My legs were giving out a bit during long hours of surgery. It did not bother, because of the immense feeling of gratification that comes with applying my complex knowledge to comfort, heal, and help others. It is through these experiences, feel alive, refreshed, and invigorated despite long working hours. I am reliable and trustworthy, always ready to work as long as it takes to get the work done. I volunteered at Hennepin county medical center, did observerships under renowned doctors. I got a job as a clinical research associate in clinical anesthesia and cardiothoracic surgery with multiple publications. I have always been passionate about being a surgeon. When I started my residency preliminary in general surgery, it was hectic because I was expected to be at 2 or 3 places at one particular time or do 2 or 3 things at one point. In the beginning, I felt, how was it even humanly possible? Weeks later, I learned that it was possible with patience, prioritizing, time management, and strategizing everything we do, be it the studies or the work.Every experience has taught me the skills I need, to listen and be able to hear even when the other person is silent, hesitant, or shy, I learned to be patient when things don't go the way I would want when it comes to certain medical situations or learning/reading about a medical condition but at the same time taught me perseverance, persistence, and motivation to find other ways to improve. I would use the same technique in teaching. If one method does not work, not to get depressed or upset but explore different approaches. I have always felt joyful in sharing my knowledge, whether it is healing a patient or teaching a rising student or a fellow student. I felt the field's necessary traits were more organic to my personality. I believe that learning has to be more visual, fun, and like storytelling. Many of us still remember our favorite movie/book and how the main lead had kicked so many bad guys. Yes, we have to learn and make every subject into our favorite movies/stories. I am here to help you with that.

I am an avid fan of innovation in the field of education. I want to teach others how to approach their study sessions with an understanding of how their brain works. This can equip students with routines that are customized for their current course load and academic goals. Making students' academic pursuits a sustainable lifestyle is my primary goal but I enjoy enriching their understanding of the universe and enabling their critical thinking. My students learn to understand proper time management and how to break down activities. I also like to make sure my students feel comfortable with analysis, editing, note taking, and other methods to give them a competitive edge. The fuel students should use is intrinsic motivation, enjoyment, and the thrill of delving into a topic they can use to expand their horizons or perspective on life in the 21st century.

The central dichotomy of my life has always been that of academics and the performing arts; as I have spent the last six years since graduating from Columbia University in New York auditioning and performing, I have also found myself drawn to working with kids. I have worked as a nanny and tutored kids between the ages of three and seventeen, and I feel especially qualified to work with students on the writing and verbal sections of the SAT and editing their personal statements and college essays. As a high schooler, I was one of those students who LOVED standardized tests; I have always viewed them as an exciting way to measure progress and hone in on, not only academic skills, but also time management, organization, and maintaining a sense of personal calm. In fact, I love the entire college application process because I think of it not as an opaque, mysterious world of judgment behind closed doors, but as the first opportunity in a student's life to find the perfect fit. The combination of test scores and personal statement should be seen as a contribution to a conversation that leads to a student ending up in an environment suited to their strengths.

I graduated from the University of Vermont with a B.A. in English and Film & Television Studies. I have had experience tutoring in a range of subjects; my passions are writing nonfiction and reading, so I especially love tutoring essay writing and critical reading.I am an extremely positive and patient tutor, but that doesn't mean I'm easy. To the credit of my students, I've witnessed much improvement in their study skills and reading comprehension. I firmly believe hard work and education will make a person the best he or she can be. I work as hard as I can to get my students to a place where they understand the best ways for them to learn, and I aim to inspire a lifetime love of learning! When I'm not tutoring, reading, or writing, you'll most likely find me attempting a new DIY craft project, baking a pie, or attending a theatrical production.

I'm a graduate of The University of Michigan with a dual degree in Mathematics and Economics with highest honors and I currently hold a finance research appointment at Columbia Business School. Having dedicated my time to master quantitative subjects such as Math, Econ and Stats, I hope to share my knowledge with students who need help with these subjects or students who are looking to expand their knowledge beyond what's taught in class.During my undergraduate studies, I tutored one-on-one and in small groups to students at the University of Michigan on introductory / intermediate Macroeconomics and Microeconomics. I just relocated to NYC a couple of months ago to being my research appointment at Columbia Business School, so I am looking for new students to tutor.Additionally, I received a perfect GRE quant score. I have mastered all of the question on this test. I am willing to provide tricks to tackle all of the questions in the GRE quant section in order to solve them as fast as possible. I'm a recent graduate of Harvard University, I've been tutoring for about five years now. I come from a public high school of 240 students in middle-of-nowhere rural Connecticut. Plain and simple: I wouldn't have made it to Harvard without finding a way to enjoy studying for the SATs and other tests. My goal is to share that enthusiasm with my students. The test might be frustrating, and it might seem pointless, but I insist that every hour spent on SAT prep is a priceless investment in your future. (...and I have an economics minor!)
