Varsity Tutors can help students who are preparing to apply to a college or university by connecting them with solid Detroit SAT prep opportunities. Many students begin thinking about taking the SAT exam as early as junior year of high school. This is a critical step in the admissions process at any college you may wish to attend. Since every US college accepts the SAT score, you'll want to make sure to do everything you can to prepare for exam day.
The SAT is a standardized exam comprised of 3 required sections and 1 optional Writing assessment. It assesses your readiness for college with required Math, Reading, and Writing and Language sections. The Math section evaluates your problem-solving and algebraic skills. The Reading assessment measures your reading comprehension and ability to answer questions about given passages. The Writing and Language test assesses your ability to use proper grammar, sentence structure, and other skills necessary for written English. These sections vary in the number of questions and time allotted. The SAT is a comprehensive exam and you'll want to use every tool available to put your best foot forward. If you're a student attending an institution such as Cranbrook Schools or Troy High School, Varsity Tutors can set you up with exceptional SAT prep options.
What can Detroit SAT prep cover?
The SAT is a 3-hour exam when taken without the optional Essay section. The essay adds 50 minutes to the exam time. Let's take a closer look at the sections and which skills you should review to prepare for each.
The Math portion of the SAT is split into two sections; you'll only be allowed to use a calculator on one of these sections. The two sections together consist of 58 questions and take 80 minutes to complete. In SAT prep, you'll want to practice your ability to solve linear equations and systems. Practicing moving through problems accurately and efficiently will help you gain confidence in your ability to do well on this portion of the exam. You'll also need to be able to analyze real-world problems and use mathematical solutions to solve them.
The Reading portion of the exam is 52 questions long and takes 65 minutes to complete. You'll need to read various passages in order to find evidence and identify relationships between texts. Passages can come from classic world literature, portions of United States founding documents, psychology articles, or chemistry content. You'll also need to be able to use context clues to understand the meaning of words or phrases. Your SAT prep course can help you practice drawing inferences and conclusions.
The Writing and Language section of the SAT consists of 44 questions. You'll have 35 minutes to read various passages on history, social studies, and science and make editorial decisions to improve how the passages develop information and ideas. An SAT prep course can help you work on verb tense, parallel construction, subject-verb agreement, comma use, and sentence structure.
No matter what subject you need help understanding, Varsity Tutors can set you up with the right Detroit SAT prep course to assist you in working towards your goals.
What are the benefits of different types of Detroit SAT prep with Varsity Tutors?
Varsity Tutors is proud to be able to set you up with the right SAT test prep to suit your instructional needs. There are two types of SAT prep offered: a private SAT instructor and an online interactive SAT prep course. Students can benefit from either option as each comes with its own unique set of benefits. Here we'll take a closer look at how private instruction or a prep course can assist you.
If you're looking for a personalized learning experience, we can set you up with a private Detroit SAT tutor. This gives you the opportunity to take advantage of customized study sessions which focus on your precise needs. Your instructor can assess your strengths and weakness and adjust your lessons as you make progress. Study sessions can take your preferred learning method into account. For example, if you're a visual learner, your mentor can find videos for you to watch to help you with vocabulary skills. This kind of customized environment can be extremely beneficial in helping you retain the information you're reviewing. You can even choose to schedule your sessions for the time most convenient to your schedule and access face-to-face instruction using our Live Learning Platform. Fitting private instruction into your schedule is convenient and simple when you let Varsity Tutors do the work to find a teacher to suit your needs.
If you prefer a more social learning experience, you'll be able to take advantage of an online Detroit SAT prep class. This gives you access to your courses anywhere you can find internet and a computer. You'll be able to observe, speak, and hear your instructor as if he or she is in the same room as you. You will also have the opportunity to engage in group discussions and participate in collaborative activities. For example, you can practice reading passages with your peers to gain perspective on new ways to identify relationships between texts. These kinds of collaborative experiences have been shown to help students gain a deeper understanding of the topic being discussed.
Some students may even wish to take advantage of both options and gain the opportunity for both private and structured learning. No matter what your needs are, Varsity Tutors is here to facilitate getting you set up with the right prep.
