Calculus Tutoring review by Angelo in Sunnyvale, CA
In this session, we covered the Chain Rule and Implicit Differentiation, and went over examples to reinforce understanding of these concepts. We reviewed some questions from the second exam, and then placed important emphasis on the use of the chain rule and the need to follow through with it until the end of the process of taking a derivative.

Calculus Tutoring review by Amy in Sunnyvale, CA
In this session we went over properties of integrals. This included estimating distance traveled (or area under the curve) using geometry or left (right) hand sums and comparing different graphs for distance, velocity, acceleration, and position. The student seems to have a good understanding of this material.

Calculus Tutoring review by Juliana in Sunnyvale, CA
We went over the student's test corrections from his last exam. He set up the problems correctly and just made a little math error doing the actual computations, so I don't think the issue is in the understanding of the concepts. We then did review for the student's next test on Wednesday. We talked over implicit differentiation, differentiation of inverse trig functions, and trigonometric differentiation. He seems to have a good understanding of the concepts. We worked through some review homework, which had him using the various techniques.

Calculus Tutoring review by Caroline in Sunnyvale, CA
We spent the majority of the time today going over the student's last test. We covered related rates, product rule, tangent lines, and some conceptual problems. After that we began going over the new material on indefinite integrals. We went through two or three practice problems from the student's homework and she seemed to grasp the concept well.

Calculus Tutoring review by Steve in Sunnyvale, CA
Today the student and I went over the rules of sines and cosines, especially when given sines and cosines squared and asked to solve for x. This requires the use of dummy variables, which can be confusing. We did two problems like this and he seemed more confident the second time. On Sunday we will work more on this.

Calculus Tutoring review by Padraic in Sunnyvale, CA
The student and I began our session by working through his math homework assignment. He just began chapter 7 in his textbook, which covers an introduction to integration. The problems from his homework were relatively straightforward, and I reviewed how to apply the power rule in reverse to find the antiderivative of a polynomial or function. We then looked at section 6.5 from his math textbook, concerning related rates. Near the end of the session, the student shared a physics worksheet covering the concepts of harmonics and determining the frequency, wavelength, and wave speed of a particular harmonic, which he worked through the first problem, as I explained the concepts to him. He understood them very well, and we both agreed he would be able to comfortably solve the similar problems that followed.
