I'm a recent graduate with my MSc from the University of Oxford in mathematics. I love everything about math, and love to share it! I think that many people miss out on some of the most beautiful ideas in math because of bad experiences, bad teachers or because they're afraid of math. I hope to change that! I will happily teach anywhere from high school through graduate-level coursework. I can even teach you about research if you're really keen!
I love to tutor because (1) I can get to know and help individuals on a customized, one-on-one basis, and (2) I find it extremely rewarding to teach people about the things that I love most. I believe that there is power in knowledge, and especially in our modern world it is vital that more students can learn (and love) technical subjects like math and science. I hope to be able to contribute to this!
I have a masters degree from the University of Oxford and I am actively doing research in mathematics. I took all the standard undergraduate coursework both in the United States and in Russia, and left with (near) perfect grades. On weekends, I taught and mentored a group of teenagers in Oxford and am now a tutor in various capacities. I feel strongly that through hard work and dedication, anyone can love and succeed at math!
I lived for two years in Mexico, completely immersed in the culture and language. I studied Spanish every day intensively and lived exclusively with Latin Americans. I think I spoke no more than a few hours of English during the entire time I was in Mexico! My experience gave me expert knowledge of Spanish, and now I understand what it is like to learn a new language: what is difficult, what concepts are hard for English speakers, etc. I even tutor math in Spanish a couple nights a week!
I am so excited to get to know you and to help you learn! Knowledge is so important to me, and even more important is being able to pass that knowledge along. I am confident that you can learn to love learning, and I hope to help you do so!
