As a lifelong lover of the humanities with a terminal degree (Ph.D.) in Philosophy, an M.A. in Classics, and a B.A. in History and Philosophy, I bring over 17 years of teaching experience (both in the classroom and mentoring students one-on-one) wherein I strive to create engaging and supportive learning environments. My motivation for tutoring stems from a genuine desire to help students succeed academically, while nurturing their love for the humanities.
My specialties include:
--Philosophy: a broad range of topics and periods.
--Ancient Greek & Roman philosophy, literature, culture, history
--Preparation in logic/critical thinking for various college admissions exams (LSAT, MCAT, etc.)
--AP preparation (English & Literature, History & Social Sciences),
--History: U.S.A., Ancient Greek/Roman, World
Methods: I believe in fostering a Socratic method of inquiry, encouraging students to explore complex topics through discussion and critical thinking. My experience and personal interests also allow me to provide simple examples and analogies to facilitate learning, as well as to connect challenging concepts with popular culture, making learning relevant, enjoyable, and effective for my students.
Scholarship: I am a recognized international scholar/presenter, particularly in the history of ancient philosophy and classical text interpretations. I am also a published author in various areas of philosophy (ancient philosophy, history of modern philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, philosophy in film, etc.).
