I am an Adjunct professor of management at CCU Cranford campus. Prior to joining CCU, I was fortunate enough to have a wide variety of teaching experiences as a graduate student at the University of Sunderland (UK). Since then, I have held lectureship, mentorship, and principal positions in various colleges and universities, as well as management consultancy services in the UK for over 14 years. I have also supervised students' research projects at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Teaching both graduates and undergraduates is a central part of my development as an academic
I have teaching and research interests in economics, finance, business management, organizational behavior, and marketing. I also enjoy teaching quantitative methods and statistics. I am currently pursuing a doctorate degree in Organizational Development and Leadership at the university of Arizona.
I am enthusiastic about teaching because I want to contribute to making the world a better place for all. I know education is where I can have the greatest impact and with it everyone will develop a deep knowledge of how we can collaboratively make a better world.
I see teaching as involving a reciprocal relationship between teachers and students. Teachers have duties to their students and those students have duties to their teachers. In that sense, I see students as partners rather than customers or clients.
Teaching undergraduates has been gratifying not only in my success in introducing students to a world of critical inquiry, but also in the way in which addressing my students' difficulties with analytical and critical thinking has revitalized and refined my own research interests.
It is my responsibility as a teacher to provide students with an environment conducive to learning; knowledge that will help them be successful in achieving their lives' goals. I provide them with materials, opportunities, and feedback that will help them learn, and help in becoming and remaining motivated to be successful both in their studies and in applying their knowledge to solve problems in their lives.
I am a good listener and I make it my business to try to understand the student's point of view however erroneous before attempting to give them my own. This means that when I do teach, I can choose a conceptual path that leads from the student's current understanding to a broader or more conventional one. I am energetic and enthusiastic about teaching, and it is critical to building personal relationships with students.
In all my teaching experience, I have tried to keep two things in mind: first, that although coverage of material is crucial, it is more important to teach students skills than things, and that students learn skills best through an interactive teaching style that demands their participation and challenges their abilities. My teaching style is highly interactive, engaging students in a dialogue, and often putting students into dialogue with each other. I strive to structure my teaching around my students needs, rather than the demands of a particular concept or text.
In my free time, I like to relax with my family, I visit the gym three times a week, and I am also currently learning yoga.
I like to use my free time in a way that helps me grow personally. For example, attending the gym makes me feel positive, and it helps increase my concentration levels when I am at work.
Learning yoga helps me to relax, unwind, centers my attention, and improves my concentration.
