I am a graduate from the University of Texas at Austin. I got my Bachelor's in English and Spanish, along with a minor in Italian, and in a year I'll be applying to various Comparative Literature PhD programs. In the meantime, I've been working as both a research assistant for a Spanish sociolinguistics project and as a tutor under Teach for America. In college I was involved in two projects that were meant to help Hispanic students succeed; one looked at the effects of language-brokering on students of Mexican descent and the other focused on providing Hispanic high schoolers with appropriate coping mechanisms for cultural stress. These experiences helped me understand what teaching practices can act as deterrents for students; this newfound understanding, paired with my English and Spanish writing skills and knowledge of various subjects and tests like AP English exams, give me a lot to pass on to potential students. I enjoy weightlifting, dancing, singing and movie-watching, and I can promise to always have a good movie/book/song recommendation on hand.
