I am a graduate of Harvard University. I received my A.B. in Chemistry and Physics, with a secondary in the Comparative Study of Religion and a citation in Japanese. Over the course of my studies, I have worked in a variety of laboratories in biology, biophysics, and quantum chemistry, both in the US and Japan. Since graduation, I have studied the Japanese Tea Ceremony (/ "Chanoyu"/"Chad") intensively in Japan, living and working in a Japanese linguistic context.
While I tutor in a broad range of subjects, I most enjoy tutoring in Japanese, and the challenge of teaching the critical thinking required for classes in literature, history, religions, or the social sciences.
My academic journey has given me a broad appreciation for interdisciplinary, and a passion for teaching and helping others come to understand the subjects they are studying, especially in a broader context. I work with my students to ensure not only that they perform well in their classes or on their exams, but also to advise them in areas of interest for writing papers/theses, and help them to tie what they are learning into the broader context of their lives. I believe that this approach makes learning more enjoyable, interesting, and easier to understand and remember. I look forward to working with you!
