For the last two years I have worked at Southeastern Institute in Charleston as a Massage Therapy instructor. My job included preparing students for the Mblex test. The program is 900 hours long and I have taught the subjects of anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, pathology, ethics, professional standards, emergency preparedness, business practices, special populations and hands on techniques. I have made customized study plans with my students as they prepare for the Mblex test. I am happy to say that most of my students not only passed the Mblex but have fulfilling careers as massage therapists. The national Mblex pass rate is 67. 8%; our program has an 87.5% passing rate.

I have been in the health and wellness profession for over 14 years and have been a licensed massage therapist for 9 years. In that time I have run my own successful practice, worked for Massage Envy and have treated a variety of clients, including those with chronic pain, sports injuries, recovering from surgery, autoimmune disorders and those in a nursing home. I hold specialized certifications in reflexology, myofascial release and deep tissue massage and have extensive training in Asian Bodywork therapy.

I enjoy inspiring, educating and helping my students achieve their goals. I try to make the learning process fun and practical. I also teach my students not just what they should study for but how they should study and prepare for their tests. In addition to being a massage therapist, I am a certified health coach, personal trainer, yoga instructor, martial arts instructor and have specialty training in nutrition. This varied and blended background has given me a lot of practical information that I pass along to my students.
