Looking for an opportunity to help kids of all ages advance in Math!
I have 5 years of tutoring elementary math, middle school math, pre-algebra, and algebra I. I worked at a Math Learning Center called Mathnasium, and learned a lot about the math education process. Most of the time, math class struggles are due to gaps in learning from previous year's math classes. Math really builds on itself from year to year.
My philosophy is to help with any homework that is due, and then spend any remaining time covering concepts from previous years that may need some strengthening. For example...reducing fractions will be difficult if you don't know your multiplication/division facts...so I would work on those topics if reducing is difficult.
For the younger kids, playing a game or two to break up the hour is always a great idea. Using visuals is great for any student of any age, particularly younger ones, so I will always draw/write things out, and encourage students to show all of their work. I will try to make math as fun as it can be!!

What is your teaching philosophy?
Try to make it more fun and interactive by using visuals. Try to joke around with them more, and try to give them some extra help to encourage them.
