I recently graduated from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Applied Physics, and minors in Mathematics and International Studies. I will be starting graduate school in the fall to pursue a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder. I tutor a range of math subjects up to the college level, as well as SAT and GRE math. I have experience being a tutor, and it is very rewarding for me to see the students I work with excel in their classes. I also worked as a camp counselor for two summers, and I love working with children.
When tutoring, I like to break problems down to their fundamental pieces, and go step-by-step to identify any trouble areas and ensure thorough understanding. I make sure to relate to the student to create a comfortable environment, because after all, I was in their shoes just a short time ago. I also believe it is important to listen to the student's questions and concerns, and provide positive reinforcement. Finally, I look to stimulate interest in the subject by making connections to other ideas and giving real-life examples when applicable.
In my free time, I like to stay active through playing sports for fun and going to the gym. I like watching and following sports - mainly hockey and football. I also like to read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy, watch shows/movies, and eat!
