Achieve The Score You Want With GRE Analytical Writing Tutoring

Dedicated Private GRE Analytical Writing Tutoring Online

If you're looking for help repairing for the GRE, working with a certified GRE Analytical Writing tutor could be a great way to reach for your academic goals. Varsity Tutors understands that many students can't meet up with a private instructor in person, so we've developed a Live Learning Platform to help you study anywhere with a reliable internet connection.

Our platform is equipped with a variety of features to improve your study experience, including the following:

  • Video chat to make asking questions as easy as possible
  • Shared document editor so your instructor can provide real-time feedback on your work
  • Virtual whiteboard to make it easier to take notes
  • Automatic session recording for future reference
  • Boost Your GRE Analytical Writing Score

The GRE's Analytical Writing section consists of two essays in 60 minutes, meaning that time is of the essence. Your GRE Analytical Writing tutor can teach you how to work from an outline so you don't get stuck staring at the page wondering what to say next.

Since the "issue task" is always about a topic from a list released before the exam, you can even outline all of the possibilities with your instructor's help. You won't know what the "argumentative task" is about before you read it on test day, but your instructor can still provide expert advice on what elements to emphasize to get as many points as possible.

Best Ways To Prep For the GRE Analytical Writing Section

Writing can be complicated, and many students get overwhelmed when they try to prepare for the GRE's Analytical Writing section on their own. Thankfully, a 1:1 GRE Analytical Writing tutor can help you focus on one element at a time to make your test prep easier.

For instance, you can review how to construct a logical argument using evidence before moving on to evaluating arguments made by other authors. Unfortunately, software-based test prep options do not offer the same flexibility, rendering them inferior to the support a private tutor can provide.

How much does a GRE Analytical Writing tutor cost?

The price of GRE Analytical Writing tutoring depends on how often you want to study and the specific skills you would like to review. For instance, you may pay a different rate for a couple of sessions on articulating complex ideas than you would for a more detailed analysis of possible issue task topics.

Varsity Tutors also provides a live GRE Analytical Writing class if you want to bounce ideas off of fellow students, or we can set you up with group tutoring if you're concerned about the affordability of private instruction. Contact us using the "Get Started" tab above or by phone for more information on all of your options.

How do I choose a GRE Analytical Writing tutor?

Finding a qualified tutor on your own can be challenging, so why not leave it to the experts at Varsity Tutors? Our expert Educational Directors thoroughly vet every instructor in our network, so you can trust that we will match you with somebody who combines outstanding written communication skills with superlative teaching ability. We also look for instructors who adopt a results-driven approach to education, allowing you to receive regular progress reports on where you're improving and any areas of opportunity for further growth.

Are GRE Analytical Writing tutors worth it?

We get this question all of the time, and we always answer in the affirmative. Independent studies say that private instruction can increase a student's test scores by up to 12 percent, even if the student in question is a high-achiever who might be interested in a graduate-level degree.

You can also refine your test-taking technique during your GRE Analytical Writing tutoring sessions if you get nervous during important tests. Contact Varsity Tutors today for more information on how a private tutor could help you reach for your academic potential! We look forward to hearing from you.

How can a GRE Analytical Writing tutor help you?

Communication is the imparting or exchanging of information or news. It is vitally important in all fields and in all series of studies, from high school writing through graduate-level doctoral examinations and dissertation composition. While you have long worked on the skills needed for expressing yourself and your arguments in writing, it is helpful to review the most fundamental aspects of presenting arguments succinctly and directly. When applying to graduate school, it is likely that you will have to take a test of written expression as a part of your application package. While this will provide an important metric for your evaluators, do not overlook the importance of the GRE's Analytical Writing section. Analytical Writing is commonly required in academic writing to show relationships between pieces of information. It is used to compare and contrast, assess, and evaluate.

Having evolved from the older logical examination section of the GRE, the Analytical Writing section provides you with the opportunity to show how readily you can present your thoughts. You will also be asked to present your logical arguments, number of approaches, theories, methodologies, and conclusions in a timed environment. This means you are required to focus your critical thinking skills with laser-like precision in a short period of time. These skills are, of course, necessary for any good paper and general statement that you might provide with your graduate school applications. However, this does not examine your logical reasoning skills with the rigor and time limitations as provided by the GRE's Analytical Writing section. Therefore, this section provides an important metric for those who are considering your academic and intellectual abilities for potential graduate school admissions.

Today the student and I focused on the analytical writing portion of the test. We went over strategies for both the issue and argument sections, and formulated plans to approach the questions when she encounters them on the test. For Thursday, she is going to bring in two writing samples (one issue analysis, one argument analysis) so that we can go over them together and see how the approach is working and how she can improve.

Today, we covered an argument writing task as well as a basic introduction to the kinds of questions that might appear on the multiple choice section. The student is going to look into English courses through her school and she is going to continue practicing English with her friends that speak it. She is going to work on writing emails in English to her family. She had no trouble learning how to pick apart a flawed argument. Today, I taught her how to FOIL, which is a basic algebra skill.

For this session we mostly focused on the "Analyze an Issue" task of the GRE Writing section. We practiced quickly identifying reasons for our argument within the first 5 minutes of the section. I also suggested to make it clear in the first paragraph which opinion you side with. This would make it easier on the reader to follow an argument.

The student and I looked even more in-depth at the Writing section today, examining the two essay prompts and reading through some sample responses together to help her understand what the graders will be looking for. We also began looking at the Verbal section with some extra time at the end of the session.
