In my free time, I enjoy reading, eating, hiking, traveling, Netflix, swimming, and spending time with friends. I am a huge fan of Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and almost anything else in the fantasy genre. I like Sherlock (both the Conan Doyle and BBC/Cumberbatch versions) and funny t.v. shows like Arrested Development, Parks and Recreation, and The Mindy Project.

What is your teaching philosophy?
As a student of medieval Irish history, I am in a constant state of learning a new language. I am sympathetic to the struggles of beginning and intermediate students, and I am able to explain linguistic, grammatical, and compositional concepts to students of every learning style. For example, I understand that tactile learners require a much different approach to literature than a visual learner. I have learned techniques to make these concepts accessible to all students.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
During my first tutoring session with a student, I would assess their current skill levels, the goals they hope to achieve from tutoring, and their preferred learning style.
