The student was quite engaged in the session and asked a number of very good questions. We covered inverse and direct variations; horizontal and vertical asymptotes, and solving inverse equations.

The student worked on using the past tense of new vocabulary that she can utilize while working with her clients. She then read and discussed the reading material developing her verbal skills in English.

In today's session, I worked with the student on power functions and their graphs. Most of our work was just in clarification. She has a good foundation in this material and was able to pick up quickly on whatever she did not know originally. She completed her homework, but I would recommend some additional practice before her next test, just to solidify those concepts.

We reviewed for the student's exam and practice problems for differential equations. She did well in solving the separable equations, and the challenges she had were more on the applications of differential equations. We looked through several book examples together to summarize the correct setup for different problems. During the review, she did fine identifying the correct methods for each problem, and we went over several topics that were covered earlier in the term.

The student and I worked solely on reading comprehension this evening. He is starting to see passages in a more analytical way, which is great. We will start to now work on training him to read deeply. When he is guided into reading deeply, he is very successful in answering the questions. However, he sometimes struggles to get to that place of dissecting what he's reading. I've given him homework to start taking notes while reading and we will start to develop that skill.

The student did an awesome job! We covered a lot of material. Some things to review for your exam: 1) Slope (y2-y1/x2-x1) Ys are in the numerator. Not the Xs!!! 2) When given 2 points and told to write the equation in slope intercept form, find the slope, then plug one point into y=mx+b to solve for b. 3) ASA means that there is an angle a side and an angle that are congruent (we are either given this information in words, pictures, or by being told that some lines are parallel, and we have to use alternate interior angle theorem, for example).
