About Me

I am a graduate of Vanderbilt University and Harvard University. I received my bachelor's degree in secondary education and English and my master's degree in learning, teaching, and instructional leadership (with a language and literacy concentration). I am a former English teacher, reading specialist, and instructional coach, and I have taught a wide range of students: from pre-K to post-secondary. I am a current doctoral student at Michigan State University; having supported students' literacy development for nearly two decades, I currently coach current teachers and help them support their students' literacy development as well. One of my favorite quotes about teaching is, "the best that the great teachers can do for us is help us discover what is already present in ourselves." I am passionate about helping students uncover their potential and grow as critical thinkers, readers, and writers. In my free time, I really enjoy reading, drinking coffee, spending time with friends and family, cooking and eating, laughing, listening to live music, playing games, attending sporting events, watching movies, walking our dogs, and hiking/ running/ biking/ yoga-ing.
