About Me

I am passionate about education, especially writing, as I believe that a sense of self-possession and empowerment about the value of your own thoughts, ideas, and critical abilities can be one of the most animating and communicatively effective tools. My area of expertise is in composition, essay-writing, and critical analysis. I have been teaching undergraduate classes since 2014; I have taught one semester at the graduate level. I am currently in the final stages of my doctorate, which I am completing at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. My dissertation focuses on life writing, political theory, and trans-national identities in the 20th century. Prior to my time in the Georgetown German Department, I completed my Master's in Comparative Literature at the University of Chicago; and prior to that I completed my undergraduate degree in Comparative Literature and Cultural History at Marlboro College. I have consistently applied myself across fields and topics, and feel that I have found an intellectual and personal home in writing, composition, literature, cultural analysis, and education. I very much enjoy working through the nuts and bolts of essay writing and drafting with students, and am delighted by the array of learner types. I bring passion, energy, patience, and individualized focus to my educational disposition, and to every tutoring experience.
