About Me

I am a graduate from Old Dominion University with a Bachelor of Science degree and have 10 years of teaching experience. I underwent minor concentration in Secondary Education, where I was a student of the MonarchTeach Program. This program taught me the strategies to teach elementary, middle, and high school. During this program, I did an internship as a student teacher at the Children's Museum of Virginia. This internship focused on conducting science-based experiments for summer enrichment camp. My experience teaching ages 3-12 campers a specific content relating to a theme, helped them better understand and apply to real world application. I was a tutor for ManBasch Program at James Monroe Elementary School. I taught fifth through twelfth grade by helping them with their homework, reading a book along with discussion, and doing enrichment activities. Also, I critiqued their essay papers to help win a scholarship. This experience influenced me to help individuals improve in their reading and writing skills. Although I tutor English and Science, Math is my favorite subject because I like to do step by step methods in solving a variety of problems. While working at Tidewater Tutors, I assisted fifth, eighth, and tenth graders with their math homework and prepared them for the SOL. I provided SOL practice tests from different years and assisted with explaining questions they didn't understand. Also, I provided worksheet packets that focused on overview of the content, in which it allowed them to apply the knowledge they obtained into taking the SOL practice test without my assistance. Not only did I use my skills to teach students in the Mansbach Program and Tidewater Tutors, I applied them in teaching kindergarten and third grade students working at University Instructors and tutoring students virtually while working for Varsity Tutors and Tidewater Tutors. Aside from teaching, I focused on helping special need children improve in their gross motor skills in gymnastics and worked with autistic children as a registered behavioral technician to improve their lives in reducing maladaptive behavior. I always had the passion to serve children in different areas such as volunteering, ministry, and community outreach because my motto is to treat people the way you want to be treated, and make a difference in their lives.
