About Me

I graduated from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff with a BS in Mathematics. I moved south to Tucson and worked for over twelve years teaching Mathematics at the high school level. I am currently attending the University of Arizona working towards my MS in Statistics. In addition to teaching all grades of high school, I have also tutored from elementary to college level math. Basically, I am a math geek and love all areas of mathematics and am qualified to teach college algebra, first semester calculus, AP calculus, geometry, GRE quantitative, and undergraduate statistics. My tutoring or teaching philosophy is that it is great to know the subject material, but if you can't present it in a way that can be grasped by the student, then you are wasting your client's time. I am able to express the same information in multiple ways so it is accessible to a variety of students and learning styles. I break the material down into step by step pieces but still present math as a consistent system and not a collection of isolated facts and procedures. I am more of an intellectual than a sports person and in addition to math; I enjoy history, science, comparative religion and many forms of science fiction. It is possible that I have been spotted at the Phoenix Comicon but draw the line at wearing a costume! I love living in Tucson it's where I met my wife, and where we adopted our dog, Oreo. I have a great group of friends and love being able to grill for them and challenge them to an occasional game night.
