About Me

I'm a graduate from the University of Maryland, College Park. I earned a Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. Currently, I am working with my father in his business and would like to purse a MBA in the near future. I have been formally tutoring since high school. During my time at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, I tutored my fellow classmates and students across the city in mathematics. Most recently, in college I had the wonderful opportunity to work with the America Counts program to mentor and tutor middle school students. While I have tutored extensively in mathematics, I also am available to teach a broad range of subjects. My favorite subject to tutor is mathematics because it is absolutely necessary in everything we do. I enjoy explaining the concepts to students and helping them identify what is missing in their train of thought. My experience in tutoring has taught me a lot about how to be an improved tutor and mentor. I understand that learning is challenging and that patience is very necessary to be successful in tutoring. I have also learned that a tutor is also a mentor not just an instructor that just tells the students which problems to do in their textbook. My tutoring philosophy is to have the student show me what they know and build on it. I will explain and teach them to remember what they do not already know. I believe as a tutor I should be able to help a student be more confident in a subject than they were before. Outside of academia, I enjoy watching movies, attending Maryland basketball games, and reading the New York Times. When the weather is nice, I try to play as much tennis as possible.
