About Me

I am pursuing a post-Bachelor certificate in Dietetics at Virginia State University. Having both school experiences has given me exposure to a wide variety of subjects. I also have diverse tutoring experience. I tutored peers in Writing, Math and Statistics as an undergrad, pre-kindergarteners to adults in reading comprehension, phonics, math and test prep at a learning center in Michigan, and, most recently, reading, writing and standardized test preparation to a variety of students here in Virginia. I don't have a favorite subject or age group to work with; the more variety, the better. I enjoy working under a blanket fort with a Kindergartener as much as I do having an intelligent conversation about a research paper with a highschooler. No matter the age, my philosophy is two-fold: 1) learning should be enjoyable and 2) the goal of tutoring is independence. I want my students to look forward to when I come, but also to be able to confidently wave goodbye at the end of our time together because I have prepared them to handle their work on their own. When I'm not in class or tutoring, I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, gardening and boating. I also can be found very often in my kitchen, trying my hand at whatever new concoction has piqued my interest that day. I'm always willing to try new things and meet new people and I greatly look forward to meeting you!
