About Me

I'm a certified language arts teacher and eligible to be certified in Middle Grades General Science. I hold a Masters in Education (M.Ed) from The University of Tampa, Class of 2012.In one way or another, I've been a professional writer nearly all my adult life. I was an award-winning daily newspaper staff writer for 20 years. Since going freelance, my articles and photos have been published in four newspapers, several national magazines and been reprinted in several books. I've written about state and local government, police, courts, business, development, education, arts, leisure activities and health and fitness. As a journalist, I've developed a skill to be able to take complex subjects and present them in a way that could be readily understood by almost everyone. When I decided to change careers several years ago, I chose teaching so I could put that skill into practice. I have a passion for the written word, whether reading or writing, and enjoy sharing that passion with others. When not tutoring or teaching, I practice classical and modern Chinese Kung Fu, go fishing and write fiction and poetry.
