About Me

I have dedicated the majority of my career to education and training, designing and delivering educational presentations and trainings to children, adolescents, and adults. My Bachelor's degree is in Psychology and my Master's is in Counseling. I taught Psychology at the college level for approximately eight years. Since that time, while enjoying a successful career in education and training, I served as a volunteer tutor for the Alexandria Public School System at Cora Kelley Elementary School. With the program, "Book Buddies", I tutored second through fifth graders in Reading. Later, I was hired by Alexandria Public School System as a PALS teacher where I was able to continue working with children on improving their reading skills. I have also tutored high school students, assisting them in improving their study skills and test-taking skills, along with their reading comprehension and writing skills. Most recently, I tutored a college student taking online courses toward a Bachelor's degree. I am passionate about assuring that learners at any age are able to get the most out of their lessons and are successful in reaching their academic and life goals. In my spare time, I enjoy creative writing, reading poetry and non-fiction, sharing time with my family and the newest member of our family, MJ, our beautiful 21-month-old pitbull, whom we adopted this year!
