About Me

Hi! I am currently working as a First Grade teacher in Katy ISD with 10+ years of experience. I graduated from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Biology and a minor in Chemistry but became a teacher because of how much I enjoy teaching kids. I grew up being very involved in our church's nursery ministry and discovered my true passion to help kids learn and grow. Part of the reason I became a teacher is because of the gratification I receive from teaching. I truly enjoy watching my students learn and grow as the year progresses. I consider myself to be an incredibly fun and enthusiastic teacher, but it is also very important for me to show my students the importance of discipline. I try to balance teaching my students boundaries with a lot of love and tenderness. Some of my students have come to even forget to call me by my name and instead call me "mom."I think it is incredibly important to inspire students by showing them that learning can be interesting and a lot of fun!! I like to find creative ways to teach my students including methods that are interactive and engaging. I am very determined to do whatever it takes to help students grasp concepts and ideas including using games, rhymes, songs and projects. I think the most important thing is to make sure young students are engaged and learning in a way that makes sense to them and keeps them interested. That is the passion and determination I convey with each of my students. In my spare time, I love to run, spend time with my friends, enjoy good food, and spend time outdoors.
