During this session, I reviewed the student's note-taking technique and checked up on her success with the new reading strategy I gave to her the session before. She was successful on the quiz but felt that the added strategy was unnecessary. She has improved her reading time and her note-taking. I then reviewed a typical course syllabus in order to prepare her for organizing her reading and study schedule when her semester begins.

We went over his school summaries as well as read all of the syllabi posted on his schools intranet. By reading through the syllabi, we got an idea of the assignments coming for the week and started planning out how we were going to deal with assignments and projects. I left him with instructions to continue making school summaries (especially with more detail), to watch the videos posted by his science teacher, and to continue to check online for new assignments or posts from all of his teachers.

This was our first session so I had previously asked her mother to make sure she had any syllabus for any of her subjects that teachers had given out. This was only her second day of school so we focused our session on organizing her binder. She already had some of it done. I went over tips for organizing and asked how her teachers instructed her to do so as far as specifics for their particular class if applicable. I also offered advice on how to make studying more fun and interactive at points by using index cards with notes and answers on the back, which could alternatively also be used to develop a self made game of Jeopardy. I look forward to working with the student and assisting her this year.

This 1.5 hour session allowed the student to get extra help on his homework. During the session the student worked on assignments from his Biology and Spanish classes. The student worked independently on his Biology with suggestions from tutor. Upon completing his Biology work, the student began his Spanish assignment. For this Spanish assignment the student wrote a script using vocabulary he gained from his Spanish class.
At this time, the student is functioning on an independent level with help from his tutor. There are no serious issues at this time.

In today's lesson we discussed the student's daily log for the last several days, checking to see if he had done what he had written he would. We then planned his daily schedule for the next couple of days. I then helped him review his American government and economics homework, namely writing about U.S.-Canadian relations, which he finished by the end of the lesson.

The student started with his history reading, where he had to highlight the text in order to supports answer. Next, he worked on math. The lesson had to do with the distributive property and combining like terms. He seemed to struggle with his integers and identifying when a term is negative. I taught him "keep-change-change," where he keeps the first term, changes the operation sign, and then changes the integer sign on the second term. He also completed his science homework, which went over cell meiosis. He completed his VAM for the week. His grades have gone up slightly. He said that he has been turning in all of his missing assignments and does not have any now. He also said that he has been working on his dance routine for choir, and they pretty much have it down.
