I received my physics degree from the University of Montana, and I started tutoring shortly after graduating. I spent the last three years teaching at a camp and developing a passion for informal education. I enjoy seeing the moment of realization when a student understands a concept that they have been struggling with. I believe that everybody is entitled to an education, and strive to ensure that my students overcome their obstacles. I tutor a variety of math subjects, but I especially enjoy calculus. My college physics classes gave me a chance to utilize all of my calculus knowledge, so it is the subject I am most familiar with. During my free time I enjoy mountain biking, hiking, guitar and blacksmithing.

I have a BA in Spanish from the University of Montana and am currently applying to medical school . During my college career I had the pleasure of working as a teaching assistant for an Anatomy and Physiology lab and for a Freshman Honors Seminar. Both of these were extremely rewarding experiences, and as I got to know my students and watched them grow in confidence and competency, I discovered my love of teaching. I have a wide field of interests, but I particularly love to teach the Spanish language. I have studied Spanish for eight years, to the extent that it has become part of the way I think and experience the world. It brings me no small amount of joy to be able to speak this language, and I love to help others on their journey to mastering it (which is a long path, I know!). I firmly believe in the pursuit of learning in all forms, be it experiential or classroom-based, and I warmly anticipate working with my students.
I live in beautiful Portland, Oregon. I am from Montana, where I achieved a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. My hope is to help achieve the goals of students and parents alike in facilitating the understanding of concepts and information that are being studied. My appreciation for education its what drives me to want to tutor. I am looking forward to working with your students in their pursuit of education and possibly develop their own appreciation for learning.Thank you for your consideration.
I love literature and reading and writing -- they've been central to my life since early childhood -- and I hope as a tutor not only to help students improve their skills in these areas but to instill in them a similar kind of lifelong affection for these pursuits. I believe that reading and writing are key not only to enjoying a broadly fulfilling and exciting life but also to performing effectively in virtually any kind of serious job. As a kid, my dream was to become a writer of fiction -- novels and stories -- and I majored in English and creative writing in college. But then it was literature that led my life to take a different, unexpected path. At Princeton, I had to write a senior thesis, and the topic I chose was native American prose literature -- novels, poems and other writings that hugely enhanced the love of nature and wilderness that I had already acquired through hiking and camping trips with my father. Instead of wanting to write fiction, I became an environmental advocate, and wanted to write about wilderness and environmental issues. So, I moved from the East Coast to Montana for graduate school, where I studied wilderness and wildlife management issues and earned a Master's degree in natural resource conservation. For decades ever since I have made my living primarily as a communicator, through writing as well as public speaking. Every job I've had depended on my ability to write well, from working as an editor of technical research papers for the US Forest Service; as communications director for an environmental protection group; as a press secretary in a Presidential campaign; as an international publicist for a PR firm in New York City; as an aide in the Montana Governor's Office; and as a self-employed lobbyist and campaign manager for numerous large corporations and small nonprofit groups. I also taught public and media relations at Carroll College in Montana and have done a fair amount of freelance writing along the way, with essays published in diverse outlets including Western Wildlands, the Journal of Soil & Water Conservation, Range magazine and Playboy. My love of reading and literature has never ceased. I am always reading at least one good book at a time, and I still write almost daily. On the side, I recently have edited two books for publication and have written several grant proposals. I look forward to sharing my passion for learning with students through the Varsity Tutors program.

I am a graduate of both Montana State University and The University of Montana. I received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and a Doctorate of Pharmacy. Since graduation, I have worked for several retail pharmacies across East Tennessee. During most of my career, I have been a preceptor and enjoy teaching students about many aspects of pharmacy, whether it be practicing in the field, providing complete medication reviews, or discussing news laws at both the state and federal levels.
I believe that learning should be fun and engaging. I was a bilingual elementary school teacher for 10 years, teaching kindergarten, first, third, fourth, and fifth grade. While I love teaching all subjects, I am especially passionate about math. I had many students tell me that they hated math before my class, but, once they took math with me, they began to love it because I made it fun and they were finally able to understand it.
Hi, I am a writer of fiction and non-fiction. I worked as an award-winning journalist in Montana and Wisconsin and have been writing in some form for about 20 years.I am currently studying for FINRA's Series 7 exam.
My love for the English language began at an early age. As a child, I learned to read by age five and voraciously devoured Greek and Roman mythology, and European history. When I entered college, I had the tremendous privilege of studying Literature and Creative Writing at University of Montana, via their English program with so many talented writers and poets that it was known as "Paris of the West." My background in Creative Writing has stood me in excellent stead throughout my career, and assisted me with reports, presentations, editing, and projects of many kinds. I love the color and nuances of English and delight in bringing this to my students.
