I am a senior at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering with a concentration in Biomedical Devices and a Bachelor of Science in Music. I have tutored students from the elementary school level to my current peer group. I have experience tutoring through MIT's Seminar XL and Tutorial Services Room programs in core subjects required for graduation (general chemistry, physics, calculus, multivariable calculus, and biology). I have also tutored students in SAT exam preparation for the past three years. Knowledge is an equalizer, and I firmly believe in paying my knowledge forward. I tutor a wide range of subjects, but my main passions are physics and math. I was fortunate enough to have a wonderful physics professor who turned physics into a way of viewing the world around me with a renewed sense of curiosity. I enjoy being able to spark this love of physics in my students, and as a consequence also sparking a love in mathematics, a necessary companion to physics. I am a graduate of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Thought and Political Economy. In the fall, I will be attending the University of Chicago for a Masters of Science degree in Computational Analysis and Public Policy.

I am a current PhD candidate in experimental geophysics at MIT. I have successfully tutored dozens of students for the GRE; these students report not only higher scores but deeper understanding of the material, even in areas they have struggled with for years. Many of my students have not taken relevant quantitative courses for years and have forgotten much of their fundamental math skills, but after working with me for a short time, they are able to achieve great GRE quantitative scores. Students also enjoy my approach to the verbal section, where we work on decoding the questions and narrowing answer choices based on the type of question. I focus on a strong understanding of the concepts being tested as well as on test-taking skills. After working together, all of my students feel more comfortable entering the exam and sure of their own abilities, and nearly all of my students end up meeting or exceeding their original score goals.

I'm an MIT undergrad studying Urban Planning. I loved math in science in school, but know that it can be frustrating and easy to dislike when taught in a way that is difficult to understand, or when it seems useless and pointless to learn. My goal is to get students not only to perform well in these subjects, but to fully comprehend and enjoy them.

I am a senior at Harvard College, who has tutored students in a variety of contexts while here, and back in high school. My area of focus is Chemistry and Chemical Biology, and I am comfortable teaching in most of the "hard" sciences. Plus, with a minor in Government (and my inherent nerdiness, tendency to go on Wikipedia binges, etc.) I am confident in my ability to offer instruction in related areas of the humanities, having done well in these courses as a student.

After graduating with Phi Beta Kappa honors, I moved to Boston where I worked at software company HubSpot, honing my tech abilities and using my teaching skills to give bilingual support to customers from around the globe.
