Covered Ch.1B topics in order to prepare for test: vocabulary terms related to extracurricular activities, making comparisons using "tan" & "tanto...como", using "hace + time + que" for time expressions, and practiced answering writing questions using complete sentences. Student recently got all questions correct on his vocabulary quiz, his overall grade in the class is improving. Provided writing questions for extra test practice.

Today we focused most on learning the command or imperative tense. We did a lot of practices from the work book and I had him do many of them without help and also explain how to do the problems. We will cover it again in another session. He is going to continue doing exercises from the book and applying what he learns on his homework.

Latin Tutoring review by Lloyd in Lynn, MA
We reviewed all of the material for the student's midterm exam. This included preterite and present tense conjugations for regular and irregular verbs. We completed exercises requiring the student to fill in the blank with the correct verb form in the context of a sentence. I let the student work through the answers and he usually made the correct choice. I believe he is developing a clearer understanding of Spanish verbs.

Latin Tutoring review by Joshua in Lynn, MA
The student presented me with the first quiz he took that he received back since we started tutoring. His score was an 85/100. The quiz is quite difficult, and a lot of difficulties come from remembering the text's vocab properly. I suggested that he may want to consider starting to draw up a vocab list for each section instead of just writing down straight translations. Most of the time was taken up going over Section VIII of Ad Catilinum, which is unusually long. Since he had not done this section prior to our meeting, and had already gone over the previous material in depth in class, this involved sight-reading mainly. For our next session, I would like to help him develop some of the strategies in translating by sight.

Latin Tutoring review by Kerry in Lynn, MA
The student and I had a great session today. His Latin teacher had asked him, to concentrate on the three perfect-system tenses: the present perfect, the past perfect ("pluperfect"), and the future perfect. Today, he and I concentrated on the past perfect tense. He demonstrated a true knowledge of the past perfect tense. Now, I want to work with him to get him to demonstrate a true application of that knowledge.
