I want to help students learn the material while also learning how to approach different problems so that they can eventually continue learning without the help of a tutor! I think learning how to learn and study is a very important skill and would like to help students learn how to do so!

I have tutored math individually, in small group facilitation, and both with and without software tools. When I tutor, I develop a student's knowledge of a concept, and look for conditions when that concept is used. When introducing 'math shortcuts', I like to explore why they are valid. I prefer that students attempt math assignments prior to tutoring sessions, as this can often be quite useful in assessing how they understand the material.
