My tutoring philosophy is to provide you an experienced perspective on your attempted course work.
I prefer that students come prepared to a tutoring session, with written questions about their text and/or class notes. It also helps to bring a first written attempt at any of their homework or other course assessments. If needed, I can teach a math topic from scratch, but that often involves more time used than what the student budgeted.
For my education, I earned a Bachelor of Science in Pure Mathematics, from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition, I tutored undergraduate math courses for 7 years through UT's Learning Skills Center, and for 3 years through ACC's Learning Labs. The majority of my tutoring experience focuses on both engineering and business calculus , as well as ordinary differential equations. However, I have also helped students in non-technical math survey courses, college algebra, pre-calculus, statistics, and linear algebra.
I try to determine a student's competency level(s) in their mathematics course based on their written work, and then I provide tutoring that builds from those levels - "find the student's ability, and work from there". I am willing to work with both students who are struggling and students who are exceptional, and anywhere along that spectrum.

I enjoy playing tabletop games. I have been known to write to great lengths, and to write haiku. Walking around outdoors and discovering new places has a lot of appeal.
