If you're preparing for the GRE, then Varsity Tutors offers a Dayton GRE prep course that could help. The GRE could be crucial for your advancement into grad school, as thousands of colleges and universities take your scores into account when processing applications. The GRE is a standardized test much in the same style as the SAT or ACT. Acceptance into grad school is a common goal for many students all over the world. Perhaps you are interested in a graduate degree program at an area institution like the University of Dayton or Wright State University.
In order to give yourself the best chance of acceptance to these grad schools, you'll probably want to do your best when you take the GRE. And in order to accomplish this, a GRE prep course is definitely a solid option. Remember, the GRE is a standardized test designed to assess your real academic potential. Students from over 160 countries take the GRE, and there might be a lot of variation between the various schools within these countries, states, and cities. It might have been easier to achieve high grades in certain schools compared to others. That's why the GRE provides a level playing field for all students, no matter what you might have experienced in the past.
Students studying for the GRE will need to familiarize themselves with the general structure of the test first and foremost. This is a three-part test that covers a wide range of different skills and concepts. Most students complete the test within four hours, and it's definitely not something you can breeze through. The three sections are Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Analytical Writing.
If you want to truly gain a deeper understanding of the GRE, then a GRE class could be the right option for you. These are virtual, online classes taught by expert, highly qualified instructors. These instructors know exactly how to approach the GRE, and they'll definitely have a solid grasp of the various concepts and questions you face in this test. In this classroom setting, you'll enjoy the proven benefits of a collaborative learning process. You'll learn alongside fellow classmates and interact together.
What Does A Dayton GRE Course Cover?
Your GRE course will break down what you'll need to study for as you approach the GRE. You'll then go into specifics, gaining an understanding of the questions in each section. Finally, you get the opportunity to practice some of the harder questions and concepts. Let's take a look at what you'll find waiting for you inside the GRE:
The Quantitative Reasoning section of the GRE focuses on numbers and data. These are skills you should be very familiar with from previous years, and most students feel that the concepts are fairly basic. The real focus of this section is to assess your skills in data analysis, logic, reasoning, and other related concepts.
Analytical Writing will feature two questions in essay format. You'll have approximately 30 minutes to complete each written response, so time management is definitely a factor here. For each written response, you'll be given a passage to analyze. You'll have to analyze an argument in one of these passages and analyze an issue in another passage. How you approach both issues and arguments is an important distinction, and a GRE course could give you plenty of insight into how you should approach each written answer. The organization of your response is important. A GRE course can also help you develop strategies to outline and structure outlines before actually writing out your responses.
The third and final section you'll find in the GRE is Verbal Reasoning. Like the Analytical Writing section, you'll have to read over passages and answer questions based on those passages. But these questions won't require you to write out long answers. Instead, you'll answer short, multiple-choice questions based on your reading comprehension. A GRE course can help you develop some key skills that could help in this area. These skills include analyzing, understanding, and interpreting the various written passages. You'll also be asked to identify the strengths and weaknesses of certain passages, reach conclusions, and summarize text. Some questions will require you to fill in the blanks or complete broken or incomplete sentences.
Finally, you might also face either an experimental or research section within this test. The experimental questions are embedded within the test, and these unscored questions are not identified. Either that, or you'll face a research section at the end of the test, which is completely optional.
How Will A Dayton GRE Course Help Me Study?
When you enter into a virtual classroom setting for the first time, you might be surprised at how similar it is to a real classroom. Just like a physical classroom setting, your Dayton GRE course allows you to interact with other students and your instructor, ask questions, and learn from the group. You'll also have the opportunity to book extra study time with your instructor after class hours to get a little extra help. This one-on-one setting is perfect if you're having trouble with certain concepts covered in the GRE prep course.
