We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

The student knocked out all of her homework for the week and her online quiz, all of which is due on Sunday. The lessons covered lines and their equations. We went over slope-intercept form, point-slope form, and standard form, as well as finding x and y intercepts and calculating slope. She is doing well with the material but needs more practice to build her confidence.

Tutoring review by Ryan in West Covina, CA
Today, the student and I started reviewing material for the beginning of his physiology 2 course. The topic for this chapter included blood cells. We went over red blood cells, plasma, and white blood cells. He was doing well with the information; the only trouble he was having was with the big and complicated words. During the session, I made sure to go back to topics and quiz him on the terms. During next session we will review some of the material and move on to discussing more about white blood cells.

Tutoring review by Karina in West Covina, CA
We reviewed step functions and greatest integer functions with a sample problem for each. Both students seemed more confident in their understanding of these functions after our review. Then, we worked through some problems on linear programming, and both understood how to complete the problems. Then, we worked on a problem involving folding a rectangular paper to create a triangle shape and finding what fold length would maximize the triangle area. In review, both are bright students with excellent understanding of math. Reviewing a sample problem or sharing a tip that maybe hadn't been presented in class seems to facilitate their understanding and boost their confidence. I look forward to working with them next week.
