As you prepare for the ACT, you might be interested in reaching out to Varsity Tutors if you are looking to connect with an Atlanta ACT prep course. The ACT is one of two standardized admissions tests that colleges and universities require you to complete before you apply. The examination is comprehensive and incorporates educational skills you have acquired throughout your schooling thus far. It is common among high school students, like the ones at Grady High School, to choose the ACT for their admissions exam. You want to achieve high scores to catch the attention of admissions committees at the schools in which you apply.
Varsity Tutors can set you up with Atlanta ACT courses that can help ease the stresses of taking the test. Students, like the ones who attend North Atlanta High School, have found an Atlanta ACT class a great resource that helps to deepen their preparation for the test. Preparing for the ACT should be one of your highest priorities if you want to attend your first-choice college. Even if you are just beginning your college journey, you will want to score well on the ACT. The higher you score, the better chance you may have at getting accepted into your school of choice. You'll want to adequately prepare before you take the exam, and Varsity Tutors is here to help with your preparation.
Are the materials covered in the Atlanta ACT course similar to the actual ACT?
The Atlanta ACT course offers you the opportunity to have a more in-depth review of the materials that are on the ACT exam. The test has five categories: Writing, Science, Math, Reading, and English. Out of the five, only the Writing section is optional. If you choose to take the Writing portion of the ACT exam, you will be asked to respond to a question in essay format. Once you construct your response, you then need to make a connection between your perspective and one of three provided perspectives related to the question. If you choose to complete this optional Writing section of the ACT, you will be given an additional 40 minutes.
As you begin the Science portion of the ACT exam, you will be asked to respond to questions in multiple-choice format. The subjects that you will need to know in this section of the ACT are biology, chemistry, physics, and Earth science. You will be given 35 minutes to respond to 40 questions. The questions will measure your problem-solving, evaluation, and reasoning skills, among others. You must be able to effectively manipulate scientific data that will be presented to you in various formats as well as show your knowledge of the scientific method and procedures.
The Math portion of the exam requires you to use your knowledge of pre-algebra, elementary, and intermediate algebra. Other subjects that included within the Math section of the ACT include geometry and some trigonometry. The concepts you will be tested on include graphing, functions, solid measurement calculations, and interpreting equations. You are given 60 minutes to respond to all 60 questions, so you must keep one eye on the clock so you can navigate through this portion of the test promptly.
When you encounter the Reading portion of the exam, you will be required to answer multiple-choice, passage-based questions that test your reading comprehension skills that you'll need in your first year of college. You must be able to identify central ideas from reading passages and differentiate between fact and opinion. You are allotted 35 minutes to respond to all 40 questions within the section.
The final section of the ACT is focused on your knowledge of English. This is the time you want to showcase your grammar and understanding of the English language. The questions you will be required to answer are given to you in multiple-choice, passage-based formats. Some of the concepts you should review for this section are topic development, organization, unity, and cohesiveness. Don't forget to pay attention to the tone and the style of the passages because the ability to successfully identify these features might assist you in responding to questions correctly. You will also be tested on your knowledge of sentence completion, basic punctuation, and the conventions that commonly pertain to English as the subject matter.

However, for math and science I have found a successful style usually involves finding example, homework, or test problems the student did not understand.
