I enjoy teaching! I believe that every student has the right to be taught the way that they can learn. Everyone does not learn the same way. I try to use all the senses when teaching to discover the way a student learns. Once the skill is discovered, the skill is utilized to the fullest extent.

It's nice to meet you. I teach high schoolers in NYC. My core subjects are Special Education 9th grade English, READ 180, and Wilson. In the past, I've taught U.S History. At work, I also work as a 12th-grade advisor helping students navigate the emotional and mental changes that come with life transitions in and out of high school. I work every day to help my students increase their self-awareness, take on more responsibility, and learn how to self-regulate.I tutor English, ESL, and social-emotional learning. In college, I studied English and I had the wonderful opportunity to study abroad in Spain. I went on to attain my Masters in Special Education, 7-12 from CUNY Hunter College.Reading, writing, financial literacy, and literacy are all things that I focus on. My teaching philosophy is the hands-on tactical approach. I believe that all work starts with having a growth mindset, modeling what's expected of students, and then having students get as much practice as possible.Outside of academia, I have experience with freelance writing and I can help you with that if you are interested in learning how to increase your income through writing.

"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference. You just have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." - Jane GoodallI want to make a positive, world changing difference! I believe teachers are given the opportunity to build on foundations laid by parents for a prosperous future, not only for individual children, but for our society as a whole. Although this is a huge responsibility for the adults, I believe that through the education of children, we are able to deliver children the opportunity to find a future which they enjoy. I believe in the reward of seeing children flourish and it is worth the effort and dedication required. I am a strong advocate for partnership with the parents/guardians of students I work with. While classroom/large group and small group settings are both important, I find particular value in the opportunity to meet 1:1 with students. Meeting a student where they are and helping them grow is very life-giving and rewarding to me!I have both my bachelor's and master's degrees in the field of education. I have over 10 years of classroom experience in the "brick and mortar" school. Since 2020, I have been teaching and tutoring on-line. I have my degrees in and have worked with students in K-12th grades, both regular education and special education, across a plethora of content areas.Let's connect! I'd love to meet you!

I am passionate about helping students because I love that "aha" moment when something they have been working so hard on finally clicks. Being able to help students of any age use their knowledge and give them tools to help them be as successful as possible is my biggest goal of being an educator. Teaching academics as well as real life skills is a huge factor as to why I decided to be an educator. I love working with students, engaging them in their learning, and showing them how to have positive roles in society. I have worked with students in first grade, second grade, third grade, and fifth grade. I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Longwood University in Farmville, VA. Afterwards, I began my teaching career in second grade while I also began my Master's program. I attended Longwood University for graduate school as well and obtained my Master's in Education in Reading, Learning, and Literacy. I have taught all subjects in second grade and fifth grade, but I am licensed to teach PreK through 6th grade in all subjects. I am also qualified to be a reading specialist with my Master's degree. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and tutoring in reading because I believe that literacy is a very important aspect in our every day life from the time we are children all the way into adulthood. It is critical that we can read and comprehend many things in order to be successful in life. Reading also can be used as an outlet, and I hope to give your child the spark of imagination by helping them be successful in reading. I do my best to try a hands-on and engaging type of teaching style. I want students to care about their learning. If they are responsible for their learning by, creating things, explaining their reasoning, and answering thorough questions, then they will be more likely to care which will result in more success. Giving my students those tools in order to complete all of those things will create more confidence and triumph and give them even more quality skills they can use in real life after grade school. While education is important to me, I also enjoy many things outside of academics! I am a mom to two young boys, Harlow and Hudson, and love spending time with them. They are so much fun! I also love playing softball and hunting with my husband, and I play volleyball with some of my friends in a recreational women's league. I try to stay active and outside as much as possible. I also love hosting dinners and events for my friends and family.
