ACT Tutoring review by Jennifer in Washington DC
The student and I reviewed the math section I had assigned for homework, which she did very well on. She seems to have a pretty good understanding of most of the concepts, so she's really going to have to focus on avoiding making silly mistakes to maximize her score. We also worked through the remainder of the science section we started the last session and completed one reading and one English section for practice before beginning the math section of practice test 5.

ACT Tutoring review by Brian in Washington DC
On Wednesday we began looking over the science section of the ACT. She sometimes has trouble reading/interpreting data and determining which data to use and which is extra/unnecessary. We also looked over the writing section which I am confident that she will do extremely well on. I plan to have her focus on the math/science sections as the test nears.

The student's ACT English practice scores are improving. On his most recent practice section, he scored a 29, and most of his errors stemmed from reading interpretation, which relates back to his struggles with the Reading test. For next time, though, I have asked him to do a practice Writing prompt.

ACT Tutoring review by Rebecca in Washington DC
The student and I worked on science, reading, and grammar sections. She was proficient in the grammar section, although she seemed to have some difficulty with subject verb agreement. After reviewing, however, she realized how she can avoid those mistakes. We focused primarily on how she can best break down reading comprehension sections. By going sentence by sentence, we were able to untangle some pretty difficult passages and be confident in our answers.
