If your student is about to apply to an independent school and you are looking for quality Virginia Beach ISEE prep, Varsity Tutors is available to help get your student ready for the exam. The ISEE is a test used to evaluate a potential student's achievement and reasoning skills. Although this exam is not the only consideration a school looks at when considering your student's application, it is important for your student to do his or her best on exam day. A Virginia Beach ISEE prep course can assist your student in gaining confidence in his or her ability to do well on the exam.
What topics or skills can be covered during Virginia Beach ISEE prep to help my student prepare for the ISEE?
The ISEE is offered for students entering grades two through twelve. Students take different ISEE Levels depending on which grade they are preparing to enter. Students starting second grade, third grade, or fourth grade will take a Primary Level ISEE. Students preparing to enter the fifth or sixth grade will take the Lower Level ISEE. Students about to begin seventh or eighth grade will take the Middle Level ISEE. Any student preparing to start the ninth grade or higher will take the Upper Level ISEE.
The Primary Level ISEE has three sections, including a Math section, Reading section, and a short Writing sample. The Math and Reading section will receive a score and assess your student's achievement in mathematics and reading comprehension. At this level, the Writing sample will consist of a picture prompt that your student must use as the basis for a story. This is your student's opportunity to showcase his or her writing ability, creativity, and personality. Students entering the second grade will also be required to finish a short Auditory Comprehension section in which the student will listen to a passage and be required to answer questions based on the content.
The Upper, Middle, and Lower Levels of the ISEE consist of five different sections, which include Quantitative Reasoning, Verbal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Mathematics Achievement, and a Writing sample. The Mathematics Achievement and Reading Comprehension sections assess a student's knowledge and skills at the time of testing. The Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative Reasoning sections provide the school with information about a student's potential to learn. The Writing sample at these levels will provide your students with an age-appropriate topic of interest. Your student will have a chance to tell the prospective school more about him or herself in this essay.
The Writing section is not scored at any level. Your students writing sample will, however, be sent along with his or her scores to potential schools as a means for the school to assess writing ability.
No matter whether your student needs a comprehensive review of these topics or wishes to focus on one specific section, Varsity Tutors is here to provide exceptional review opportunities.
What are the benefits of different types of Virginia Beach ISEE prep?
When you choose Varsity Tutors to support your student in reviewing for the ISEE, you and your student will be able to choose between two options: an interactive, online ISEE course or private ISEE instruction. Both of these options can be an excellent tool for a student preparing to take this exam. Each can come with its own set of benefits and advantages so let's take a closer look at each option individually.
If your student is the kind of learner who enjoys a structured and social class setting, a Virginia Beach ISEE prep class may be the right choice. Your student can access the live class sessions using an online learning platform. This provides your student with the ability to interact directly with the teacher. Your student will also be able to participate in various group activities or discussions, which can help with retaining the knowledge being reviewed. For example, your student can participate in a discussion on the proper way to use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast information or participate in an activity to practice identifying characteristics of various geometric objects. In addition to helping your student learn the material more fully, this can make learning more enjoyable.
You and your student will be able to choose between enrolling in a two- or four-week course. With new course sessions starting every week, your student can begin his or her course at any time. This makes it easy to fit quality collaborative instruction into your family's busy schedule.
Some students may prefer to work more independently. For these kinds of learners, a private Virginia Beach ISEE tutor could be the best option. With a private instructor, your student's lessons can be designed to cater to his or her exact educational needs. A private ISEE mentor can take the time to get to know your student's personality, weaknesses, strengths, and personal learning method. With this information, the instructor can customize lesson plans to help your student learn the material more easily. Face-to-face tutoring sessions can be accessed using our unique Live Learning Platform, bringing private instruction to your student's favorite study space with no commute necessary.
Some students may want to take advantage of both opportunities. Doing so allows your student to work through customized lesson plans while also receiving the option to work on group activities. No matter which option you and your student choose, Varsity Tutors is here to support your family in the ISEE preparation process.

...and assistant coaching a high school Mock Trial team. Tutoring goes best when the student is motivated, and I have two main approaches to motivating my students. First, context- a topic isn't interesting or important 'just because', we have to discover how it's related to our whole world and especially to things the student already knows they care about. Second, getting to know the student- everyone has unique talents, tendencies, and goals. There is an...
