I've always believed that education has the power to change lives, and that belief fuels my passion for helping students succeed. There's something incredibly rewarding about witnessing the "aha" moment when a student finally grasps a concept they've been struggling with. That breakthrough not only boosts their academic performance but also builds their confidence: a transformation I'm proud to be a part of.

I have 30 years of experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and age groups. From tutoring middle and high school students in reading comprehension and essay writing to helping college students analyze historical texts and prepare research papers, I've developed a strong ability to adapt my approach to meet individual learning styles and needs. I understand that no two students are the same, and that's what makes tutoring both challenging and fulfilling.

I earned my BA, Bachelor of Arts in English and History from The University of Louisville, and my MA, Master's in Political Science from Ball State University to further develop my knowledge base. My academic background has given me a strong foundation in subjects such as English literature, writing, U.S. and world history, all of which I tutor with enthusiasm and clarity.

While I enjoy tutoring both English and history, I especially love working with students on history. Helping students connect past events to the present day and understand the stories that have shaped our world is deeply fulfilling. I also find great joy in tutoring English, particularly when guiding students through the writing process or helping them discover their own voice through literature.

My teaching philosophy centers around patience, encouragement, and active engagement. I strive to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes because that's how real learning happens. I break down complex ideas into manageable steps, use analogies that resonate with the student's interests, and continuously assess understanding to ensure steady progress.
