I earned a Ph.D. from the University of Florida in 2023, with a specialization in the Amazon Basin. There I focused my research on examining evolving food practices among pre-contact, late-precolonial, and contemporary riverine communities. As an environmental archaeologist, I explore the intersections between human societies and the natural environment. My expertise lies in zooarchaeology and ethnoarchaeology, allowing me to investigate the connection between food procurement strategies and landscape transformations. I am particularly interested in how these dynamics intersect with pressing sustainability and development issues.
I have extensive experience encompass teaching experience at the University of Florida, where I have discussed subject material across diverse subjects including archaeology, bioarchaeology, cultural anthropology, and specialized area studies in Amazonian archaeology and zooarchaeology. Additionally, I have contributed to ethnographic and archaeological field schools at Middle Tennessee State University and Purdue University in Indiana.
My research endeavors and teaching aspirations align with the objectives of the Yale Associate Registrar/Repatriation Coordinator. Moreover, my teaching philosophy, rooted in dialogue critical thinking and interdisciplinary dialogue, resonates with the program's emphasis on scholarly engagement and community outreach. I am eager to contribute meaningfully to the academic discourse and collaborative initiatives fostered by the program, advancing knowledge and addressing pressing societal challenges.
